A Very Eventful Trip to Little Rock

As we have every summer since moving here to Roanoke, the boys and I went to Little Rock for two weeks. I think every single day was jam-packed with stuff! Since I am saving up my PTO for when Henry arrives, I did go into work every day, also. Whew! It was a lot for this pregnant lady.

My parents are in the process of redoing their pool; it was so nice to get to "break it in!" The boys swam just about every single day.

Even this day...when Nathan busted his chin and got stitches for the very first time! Golly! He was so tough when Uncle Bob put in his stitches; he didn't make a peep. I was very proud of him.

We also celebrated Nathan turning six years old! I left work at lunch and took him to his requested lunch spot, The Purple Cow {for a purple milkshake, of course}!

We had the whole family over, and it was a sweet time of celebrating this boy with many of our loved ones!

We also went to a Traveler's game one evening. I bought cotton candy for the boys, and they totalllllly didn't know what to do with it. They kept licking it, which of course turned it into a huge, blue block of solid sugar. Fail. Oh, well! Made for some cute pictures!

We also celebrated the 4th of July in Little Rock! Jack was terrified of the fireworks, and my mom lovingly went and stayed with Jack inside. Nathan, on the other hand, was mesmerized by the loud fireworks, the sparklers, and the poppers.

Oh, and of course, Nathan re-busted his chin open, and had to get stitches a second time. This came a whopping two days after getting his first set of stitches removed. Oy! That boy!

And Nathan lost his first tooth! {Maybe I should just re-name this The Eventful Nathan Trip to Little Rock.} His tooth was hardly even that loose; he told me he yanked it as hard as he could. Ouch! I'll never forget, I was just about to turn in for the night, and I hear slamming footsteps down the hallway and "MOMMY! MOMMY! I PULLED MY TOOTH!" I cried, because there are just too many changes going on for this big boy! Silly boy had blood absolutely covering his chin because the tooth really wasn't ready to fall out. He didn't care, though. He was thrilled to pieces! Oh, and that tooth? It was about the size of a grain of rice. Preciousness.

And after a couple busy, busy, busy weeks, we headed back to Roanoke! These boys are old pros on this stinking long drive now. I'm sure it will be difficult all over again once Henry comes. C'est la vie!

Nathan's 6th Birthday Party

Nathan wanted his sixth birthday party to be at Bricks 4 Kidz, a local Lego play store here in Roanoke. Of course, the theme was Star Wars, as this boy is pretty obsessed with two things: Lego and Star Wars.

Pops and BeeGee flew in to celebrate the birthday boy at his party! It meant the world to him that they were there.

Nathan was adamant that he wanted to build Darth Vadar. {It's always the bad guys who are cool, huh!?} I think he did a pretty good job!

What a fun morning celebrating my firstborn son! I can't believe this boy is SIX! What!?
