A Bat Walk

Last night, at the supper table, I leaned over and whispered into Nathan's ear, "Want to go on a bat walk tonight?"

He looked at me with an enormous grin on his face, "Oh, yeah!"

So, while Scott put Jack to bed, Nathan and I--hand in hand--went for a bat walk. Nathan decided that he needed to make a "bat hat" out of construction paper and yarn. "Mom," he said, "this will help me hear the bats when they're coming."

We walked through the neighborhood, looking for bats, for about thirty minutes. We held hands, and Nathan just talked and talked and talked. He talked about bats. He talked about bugs. He talked about school. He talked about his friends. He talked about God and Jesus. I could listen to my children talk all.day.long. My heart was so full last night, being with my son and soaking up the pleasure of his company, one on one. This boy of mine, he's oozing confidence and genuine curiosity. He's so full of wonder.

I am so,so, so blessed to be his mother. Every day, I thank Jesus for that enormous privilege. During our walk, Nathan said, "Mom, I'm so lucky." No, sweet boy. I am.

Easter 2015

What a busy and blessed day our Easter was this year! We pretty much hit the ground running at 6:30 when the alarm clock went off.

Hunting for Easter eggs--Nathan loved it! Eating ALL of the candy in the Easter baskets and not caring one bit for the hunting part--that was Jack! Scott said something about "a bird in the hand. . . " Made me laugh. :)

Scott had to run up to the hospital, so the boys went to first service with me. I teach Sunday school first service. And then, Scott met up with me for second service. Our Easter service was wonderful! And, we even managed to get some pictures before church!

Then it was home for a yummy lunch and quick naps before a super fun {and chocolatey!} Easter egg hunt at a neighbor's house.

And then, it was back home to cook and clean! We invited some friends over to eat supper with us. So fun! I would have taken a picture, but we were too busy eating and laughing and corralling children! :)

He is risen! He is risen, indeed! What a wonderful Easter! :)

Creature Power!

Both of my boys absolutely love the PBS show "Wild Kratts." Have you ever seen it? As a highly-paranoid parent when it comes to television (cough, cough, and everything), I give this show my stamp of approval! I'm pretty sure that Nathan now knows more about animals than I do!

Scott surprised the boys with two creature power suits from Wild Kratts. They were SO excited!

Mommy And Me Day

Last week, I had the immense pleasure of attending Mommy and Me Day at the boys' preschool. Nathan was so excited! I truly treasured every moment. I loved watching him play with his friends, going to workshop with him and watching him hammer nails into wood to make a picture holder for me, and just seeing his confidence bloom. That boy. What a blessing from Jesus.
