Easter and Egg Hunts

After almost a full five days of Nathan having the fever virus and having to miss out on everything, we were finally able to have a fun-filled Easter weekend! Thank goodness!

Our first stop was to the Fletcher's Easter egg hunt. The boys had a total blast! They got a ton of eggs, and they had a lot of fun with their friends.

Our next Easter egg hunt was the Thomas' egg hunt. The boys had so much fun running around with their friends. It was a little bit chilly, but the food and company were both excellent!

On Easter morning, the boys were so excited to see who could grab the most eggs. I can only imagine them doing this when they're a bit older. Yikes! ;) They both got new baseball mitts and a new football.

And then it was off to church! Don't my guys look so handsome? And yes, I'm pretty sure this is the dress I've worn the past two years on Easter Sunday, but oh well!

There's a "little" something extra in this picture!
And finally, we went over to the Eckert's house for an Easter egg hunt and supper. We had a great time! I made my six layer carrot cake, and it was delicious!

I hope that your Easter was wonderful this year!

Jack's Easter Bonnet Parade

Easter Bonnet Parade sounds so girly, I know. But, this three year old was so, so pumped to rock his lime green fedora with hot-glue-gunned-on Easter eggs. Let me tell you!

I love my Jack Ryan so, so, so terribly much. He oozes confidence and fun! This boy came bursting through the double doors, leading his class, and quite literally passed his teacher. I thought my heart would explode! {We'll not talk about the fit he pitched having to wear a sweater vest to school. I know, I'm the meanest.}

He stood up on that stage with his hands on his hips the whole time, and I could have died! He looked so cute!! I wish I had gotten a picture of his entire class, but oops! I was just focusing on the cutest one up there!

When Elton John Came To Roanoke

Y'all, when I heard that Elton John {basically the single person I've dreamed of seeing in concert for two decades} was coming to little Roanoke, Virginia, I could hardly believe it! I was beside myself with excitement! And of course, along with our close friends Josh and Candace, we snatched up the closest seats we possibly could!

The concert was last weekend, and all I can say is that he is perfection itself. We had a total blast!

Homemade Tortillas

On Sunday, I decided to make homemade tortillas! I just looooove Mexican food {it's my fav!}, and I love going to a restaurant and having made-from-scratch tortillas.

Little did I know just how easy it was to make them! I grabbed this recipe from Childhood 101.

You will need:

  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. of salt
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/3 cup of vegetable oil
  • 1 cup warm water
1. In a mixer, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder.

2. Add the oil and water and mix until the dough starts to form a ball.

3. Place the dough on a lightly-floured surface and knead until smooth. This is how you knead:

Hehe!!

4. Divide the dough into sixteen balls. Flatten the balls with your palm.

5. Cover the pieces with a clean tea towel {or I just used a big paper towel} and let it be for 15 minutes.

6. Heat a frying pan. One at a time, roll out the dough until it is very, very thin.

7. Place the dough on the frying pan until a few golden spots appear. Cook on both sides.

You're welcome, people! These were the BEST tortillas I've ever tasted! :)
