Playing At The Pumpkin Patch!

Yesterday, I checked the big boys out of school {oh yes, I did!} and we headed out to the pumpkin patch! The boys were SO. STINKIN. EXCITED. I love little things that fill them with joy!

We met our friends out there, which made it all the sweeter!

I put Charlotte in the dress I smocked for her. This might be the only time she wears it, but it sure looks cute on her! Of course, I was worried it would get dirty! I wish this little one would start walking so I could put her in more things.

The boys were completely serious about pumpkin selecting! We left with.... seven pumpkins? Eight? I'm not sure. But I am sure of one thing: they had a fun time picking them out!

We even went on a hayride! Charlotte, too! So fun!!

The Zoo

This week, we visited the zoo with cousins! So fun! We haven't been to the zoo since we moved here in March, and we had missed it. Henry had a blast!

My Big Four Year Old

The house was quiet.

Too quiet.

I was cooking dinner, the big boys were working on their homework, and Charlotte was taking her afternoon hour-long-ish snooze.

Where was Henry?

I walked around the house, hollered for him upstairs, looked in the front yard, then went out onto the back deck to look for my big four year old.

Boom. There he was. Quietly working with his trucks in the dirt. My heart just about exploded with the sweetness of it.

This precious {and precocious!} little boy is so sweet and loud and smart and fiery and tender and stubborn. He brings me such deep, deep joy. I'm glad he only goes to school two days a week this year and we have more time together. The way he treats Charlotte is too precious for words--let's hope it stays that way!

For now, I want to pause and thank God for that sweet boy playing in the dirt with his trucks. Perfectly content in the dappled autumn sun.

Rodeo Roundup Day

Yesterday, the boys' school hosted "Rodeo Round Up Day!" It was a fun day at school, with socially-distanced activities outside by class. The boys got hotdogs and chips and cookies for lunch, and they were both very excited to wear their cowboy hats, bandanas, and sheriff badges to school {thanks, Party City!}. They got in the car yesterday bursting with joy to tell me about their fun day. It made me so happy! These days are worth celebrating in the midst of difficulty. They're worth celebrating in the midst of uncertainty and some fear and stress. I'm so glad our school sees the value in that. Yee haw!

An Autumn Picnic

The weekend before last, we took the kiddos out for a beautiful, autumnal picnic. It was heavenly! Perfect weather. Football throwing. Yummy food. Who could ask for more!?
