NYE In The Lone Star State

After a wonderful Christmas, it was time to pack up and head down to Texas to see our best friends and my husband's family for NYE! We had so much fun that....I really didn't take pictures. Seriously. Like, why would I stop what I'm doing to get out my camera?? And you know that if I (of all people) am saying that, it was a crazy good time.

We: ate amazing pot roast. Got introduced to Bethenny Frankel's SGM (yum). Went shopping. Ate Mexican for like five mouth-watering, makes-me-miss-TX, uuuuu-mazing meals. Stayed up waaaay too late. Laughed at how cute the toddler is and laughed at everything else. Reminisced (see pictures below). Played Cranium, Catch Phrase, and a game that wasn't really a game except that if you're playing it with your best friends and it's late enough at night it turns into the greatest game you've ever played. Ate Potbelly's (if you don't know of my obsession, well, I'm obsessed). Got to sleep in more than usual. Opened some gifts. And enjoyed hanging out. :)

I must tell you the story behind the pictures that I did actually take.

So, the bestie and I decided we were craving our favorite thing in the entire universe....cupcakes! And we got to try out a cute cupcake place in The Woodlands. So, when we got back to the house, expecting to see six people, we didn't see anybody. "Hello!?" Nothing. Then we walked into the living room, where there were clothes on the floor. "What the heck!?" We walked outside, and it seemed that the guys decided it was time to take full advantage of the fact that it was sixty-something degrees in Texas.

[Yes, I stifled the annoying mom panic, and simply asked, "Is it too hot for him?" I got a "Nope," and decided not to be a total spaz for once.]

At one minute until midnight, we all ran outside, and counted down the seconds. Then, we shouted, "Happy new year!" The bro-in-law popped the cork on a bottle of champagne, I kissed my sexy hubbs, and we all clinked our glasses and made a toast to 2012 while fireworks lit up the sky. It was perfect. I couldn't think of a better way to be bringing in the new year than with our best friends, our family, and a nice temperature that was somewhere between "I don't think I need a sweater," and "When I was 17 and this was the temp on the first nice day of spring, I definitely would've gone and laid out on the deck and dreamed of summer." :)

It was great. I hope your 2012 is off to a wonderful start as well! Cheers!

No, we didn't take a picture of the four of us, but here are a few of my past faves:

I'm not sure what we're doing here, and I know it's total blackmail, but I love it nonetheless. :)
