This Mother's Day was awesome!--and I wasn't really expecting it to be.
Scott had to go into the hospital to round on his patients--which can mean "I'll be home by 10:00 AM," or "I'll be home by 6:00 PM."
So, I got up Sunday morning, fed the boys their breakfast, cleaned up, and got us out the door and to church by 8:50. As they do most Sunday mornings, the boys helped me set up my classroom.
I taught my usual Sunday school class, attended second service solo, and picked up the boys from their classes.
"What do you want for lunch, boys? It's Mother's Day! We're going out to eat--even if it's just the three of us!"
Brave, I know.
"Barbecue!" Jack shouted.
Okay, barbecue it is.
On the way to the restaurant, Scott called and said that he was done rounding on his patients. YAY!
So, I had a MUCH more relaxing lunch that I originally thought I would!
When we got home from lunch, the boys gave me a few presents, cards, and beautiful roses! My favorite present was definitely the apron they made for me. It was covered in reticulated pythons, komodo dragons, scorpions, lions, koalas, hand prints, spiders, and letters. It's precious!
My husband sweetly asked me what I wanted to do for my Mother's Day. My response? "I want two things: a long, uninterrupted nap, and a delicious, frozen alcoholic beverage with my dinner." Done and done! I got to take a two hour nap! And in the evening, Scott grilled burgers and hotdogs, served with potato salad, carrot cake, and mango margaritas.
Right before taking this picture, Nathan came up to me and said, "You are the best mom in the whole world!" I certainly feel like the luckiest to have these two boys!
so sweet
